Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez Participates in FIU’s 11th Annual Hemispheric Security Conference

Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez participated in the 11th Annual Hemispheric Security Conference hosted by Florida International University , joining leaders from across the Americas for discussions focused on regional security, economic growth, international cooperation, and the defense of freedom and democracy.

The conference brought together policymakers, diplomats, and international leaders to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration on issues impacting the Western Hemisphere. Fernandez highlighted the importance of creating spaces for meaningful dialogue and long-term partnerships that support stability and opportunity across the region.

“Protecting freedom and strengthening cooperation across the Americas are essential to the future of our communities,” Fernandez said. “These conversations help build stronger partnerships and reinforce our shared commitment to democracy and economic progress.”

During the event, Fernandez also spent time with Ambassador Kevin Marino Cabrera of Panama, Ambassador Bernie Navarro of Peru, and Ambassador Ronald Johnson of Mexico, reflecting the international nature of the conference and Miami-Dade’s role as a gateway to the Americas.

As Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, Fernandez emphasized that leadership and collaboration are critical to addressing the challenges facing communities across the hemisphere. He noted that Miami continues to serve as a center for international dialogue, innovation, and engagement.

The conference reinforced the importance of unity, leadership, and cooperation in building a stronger and more secure future for the Americas.
