Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez Meets with State Legislators in Tallahassee to Advance Modernization, Accountability, and Stronger Services

This week, Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez traveled to Tallahassee to continue advocating for policies that modernize government operations, strengthen accountability, and prioritize the needs of Miami-Dade County residents.

During the visit, Fernandez met with state lawmakers for a series of productive conversations focused on improving public service delivery, reducing unnecessary bureaucracy, and advancing reforms that make government more efficient and responsive. He thanked House Speaker Daniel Perez,  Representatives Demi Busatta Cabrera, Patt Maney, Philip Wayne “Griff” Griffitts Jr., and Omar Blanco, as well as Senator Alexis Calatayud, for welcoming the delegation and engaging in substantive discussions on issues affecting communities across South Florida.

“Our work in Tallahassee is about ensuring that Miami-Dade residents have a voice where decisions are made,” said Fernandez. “Modernizing government, improving accountability, and reducing burdens on residents requires strong partnerships at the state level. I remain committed to advocating for policies that improve service, reduce red tape, and protect our communities.”

As the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, Fernandez oversees one of the highest-volume service operations in the state, administering driver license services, vehicle registrations, and tax-related functions for millions of residents. Continued collaboration with state leaders is critical to ensuring that laws and policies reflect operational realities and support efficient local implementation.

The visit to Tallahassee underscores the Tax Collector’s Office’s broader mission: putting people first, strengthening transparency, and ensuring that government works effectively for the residents it serves.
