Statement From Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez On The State Decision To Eliminate Multi-Language Driver License Exams
Driver License Exams Will Now Be in English Only. As Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, I want to ensure our residents have the correct information about this statewide change announced by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
Starting February 6, all driver license knowledge and skills exams in Florida will be administered only in English, including written tests, oral exams, and all commercial and non-commercial classifications. Translation services and printed exams in other languages will no longer be allowed.
Our office is the entity that issues driver licenses in Miami-Dade County on behalf of the State of Florida. We deliver state services at the local level, and as an immigrant, I understand the challenges many in our community may face.
That is why we will continue assisting every resident through this transition and providing the guidance they need to complete their exams successfully. Our focus remains on helping Miami-Dade County stay informed, supported, and prepared.
God Bless Miami-Dade County, and God Bless the United States of America.
Dariel Fernandez
Miami-Dade County Tax Collector
