This morning, the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office hosted another Cafecito Connection, this time at the iconic Sergio’s Restaurant, a landmark of Cuban heritage and family tradition. These gatherings are designed to make government more accessible by creating a welcoming space where residents can meet face-to-face with Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez, share their concerns, and exchange ideas on how to improve services and strengthen our community.
Over steaming cups of Cuban coffee, residents raised questions on issues that impact their daily lives—from property tax payments and Local Business Tax receipts to the transition of driver license services and ways to save money on tax bills. The Cafecito Connection format encourages candid conversations, where every resident has a seat at the table and every voice is heard.
“Government should never feel distant,” said Tax Collector Fernandez. “When we meet people where they are, in familiar spaces like Sergio’s, we build trust and transparency. We’re not only answering questions—we’re listening, learning, and working together to solve problems.”
Cafecito Connection has become one of the signature outreach efforts of the Miami-Dade Tax Collector’s Office.
