Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field. Advanced clerical or paralegal experience in bankruptcy proceedings, tax collection, real estate or property appraisal may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis. A Paralegal Certificate may substitute for two years of the required education.
Recruitment Notes
Review and process litigation/challenge cases, eminent domain cases, forfeiture cases, proration cases, assignment cases, bankruptcy cases, receivership, foreclosure, filing probate claims and any other related work. Additionally, the paralegals file proof of claims when warranted in bankruptcy court and conduct research in cases where there are unpaid taxes of Real Estate, Tangible Personal Property, and Local Business Tax. TC Paralegals shall attend bankruptcy hearings to present information, and keep parties informed of pending proceedings. Paralegals will draft memorandums/letters on litigation and challenge cases to assist attorneys in formulating a response to the complaint. The paralegal must have superior analytical, writing and verbal communicating skills. This is required to communicate effectively with employees, attorneys, and taxpayers. Must have the ability to work as a team and work well with others. Supervision is received from the Paralegal Supervisor and Legal Liaison who reviews and discusses action to be taken on each case.
