Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez Stands in Solidarity with Yosvany Rosell García Caso, Calls for His Immediate Release, and Condemns Cuba’s Communist Regime
As a Cuban immigrant, I cannot stay silent while Yosvany Rosell García Caso, a young Cuban political prisoner, is being pushed to the edge of physical collapse by the Cuban communist socialist dictatorship. After 40 days on hunger strike, Yosvany is now in critical condition with kidney failure, and the regime continues to deny him the medical release he urgently needs.
Yosvany’s suffering is not an isolated abuse, it is the clearest expression of a system that has spent more than six decades persecuting, imprisoning, and destroying those who dare to demand basic human rights. His only “offense” is refusing to bow to tyranny, refusing to surrender his dignity, and refusing to stop telling the truth.
I demand the immediate and unconditional release of Yosvany Rosell García Caso. No government that respects human life behaves this way. Only a regime built on fear, brutality, and absolute control treats the wellbeing of its citizens as expendable.
To Yosvany and his family: your courage is recognized and deeply respected by those of us who know what it means to confront a communist regime. Miami-Dade’s Cuban exile community stands firmly with you. Your fight is the fight of every Cuban who dreams of a free homeland.
And to the dictatorship in Havana, let this be clear: If anything happens to the life of Yosvany Rosell García Caso under your custody, the Cuban communist socialist regime will bear full moral, political, and historical responsibility, and the repercussions will follow you long after this moment. His condition is not an accident; it is the result of intentional neglect, abuse, and repression.
You can intimidate, imprison, and torture, but you will not erase the truth. You can silence a prisoner, but you will not silence a nation. The crimes committed against the Cuban people are documented, remembered, and condemned, and no amount of propaganda or force will ever conceal them. I speak out because tyranny must always be confronted with clarity, not silence. Yosvany’s case is a reminder of what happens when a nation loses its freedoms, its institutions, and its basic respect for human life.
My commitment is straightforward: to stand with those who resist oppression and to defend the fundamental principles that have made the United States a beacon of liberty. The Cuban people have endured decades under a failed communist experiment that has brought them nothing but suffering, and their courage in the face of that system commands respect.
God bless Yosvany Rosell García Caso, God bless the people of Cuba, God bless all who stand for liberty, God bless Miami-Dade County, and God bless the United States of America.
