(Miami-Dade. FL July 24,2025) The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) has issued updated guidance directing the resumption of driver license and state ID processing for eligible Temporary Protected Status (TPS) beneficiaries, following recent federal court rulings that extended TPS for nationals of Honduras, Nicaragua, and Haiti.

Per FLHSMV guidance, individuals from Honduras and Nicaragua with valid TPS documentation are eligible for services through September 9, 2025, and individuals from Haiti with TPS documentation are eligible for services through February 3, 2026. These actions ensure Florida’s compliance with federal law and allow qualifying individuals to access state-issued identification in accordance with applicable administrative orders.

The Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office is actively assisting individuals who present valid TPS documentation, in full accordance with the official directive from FLHSMV.

“This week’s court rulings are an important update for many residents in our community navigating the immigration system,” said Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernández. “As agents of the State, our message is simple: if your documents are in order, we will follow all state and federal laws and provide the services permitted under the applicable administrative orders from FLHSMV,” added Fernández.

Residents are encouraged to visit the official websites of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for the latest updates on TPS eligibility and documentation requirements.
