Statement From Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez: Do Not Fall For The Trap In Cuba If You Do Not Have The Required Federal Licenses
Statement From Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez: Do Not Fall For The Trap In Cuba If You Do Not Have The Required Federal Licenses Your Local Business Tax Receipt Can Be Revoked No Business With The Communist And Socialist Murderous Dictatorship
What we are seeing is not an opportunity. It is a trap. The Cuban communist and socialist dictatorship is once again trying to deceive those who were forced to flee, asking them to return and invest in the same system that oppressed them, confiscated their property, and destroyed their future.
Let me be clear. There are no real guarantees, no rule of law, and no protection for your investment under a dictatorship. This is not about economic opportunity. This is about survival of a regime that has failed its people for more than six decades.
Cuba remains closed for business under United States law. Any transaction involving the island requires strict federal authorization and, in many cases, specific licenses from OFAC and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Any business registered in the State of Florida and operating in Miami-Dade County must comply fully with these laws. If you do not have the appropriate federal licenses and authorization, you are in violation of the law. Our office has the authority to revoke your Local Business Tax Receipt, meaning your business will not be in compliance and cannot legally operate in Miami-Dade County.
Do not fall for propaganda. Do not risk everything on a dictatorship that has never respected freedom, private property, or its own people.
We stand with the Cuban people, not with the dictatorship.
God bless Miami-Dade County, God bless the people of Cuba, and God bless the United States of America
