This week, the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office brought its Mobile Tax Collector Unit to Miami Lighthouse for the Blind, delivering vital government services directly to residents who are blind or visually impaired.
For many of the individuals served, access to identification and driver license services can be far more challenging than it is for most of us. It was both moving and inspiring to witness how meaningful it was for residents to receive these services on-site, in a place where they already feel supported and welcomed.
The event was joined by Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia, ensuring residents also had the opportunity to connect with election resources and information. Together, these efforts demonstrated the importance of making government services not only available but truly accessible to everyone in our community.
We extend our gratitude to Virginia Jacko and the entire Miami Lighthouse team for their warm welcome and daily commitment to empowering those they serve.
At the Office of the Tax Collector, we believe that public service means meeting people where they are and making sure no one is left behind. Our Mobile Unit is helping us fulfill that promise one neighborhood, and one community, at a time.
