Miami-FL. September 23, 2025 — Our community came together in an extraordinary way to support the 50th anniversary of Liga Contra el Cáncer, raising nearly $4 million to provide life-saving care for those battling cancer who lack the financial means for treatment.

As part of this historic milestone, Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez proudly presented a check for $32,000—the direct result of generous donations made by residents at each of our Tax Collector offices. These contributions reflect the compassion and commitment of our community to stand alongside families when they need it most.

“Every dollar raised represents hope and dignity for someone fighting cancer without access to treatment,” said Fernandez. “I am deeply grateful to all the sponsors, friends, and neighbors who contributed, and to the dedicated Liga Contra el Cáncer team whose tireless efforts make this possible year after year.”

While the telemarathon sponsored by Telemundo 51, has concluded, the mission still continues. Residents are encouraged to keep supporting by donating $5 via text—simply send the word LIGA to 801801.

At the Office of the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, we believe that Putting People First means going beyond government services and standing with organizations that embody compassion, resilience, and care. Together, we are building a stronger and more compassionate Miami-Dade County.
