Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez has sent a formal letter to President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio urging the United States to continue standing firmly with the Cuban people and to maintain pressure on the Cuban regime in response to its ongoing human rights abuses.

In the letter, Fernandez expresses gratitude for the Administration's leadership in confronting the Cuban regime and calls attention to the recent persecution of young Cuban activist Anna Bensi, describing her case as a reminder of the regime's continued repression of those who peacefully advocate for freedom and democracy.

Drawing from his own experience as someone who fled communist Cuba in search of freedom, Fernandez urges continued action to hold the Cuban regime accountable, support political prisoners and activists, and ensure that U.S. policy remains focused on advancing liberty, democracy, and human rights for the Cuban people.

The full letter is attached for members of the media and the public to review.
