Coral Gables, FL – August 25, 2025 – History was made today as Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez officially inaugurated the first Tax Collector’s Office in the City of Coral Gables. This landmark achievement comes as the City Beautiful celebrates its centennial, marking the first time in 100 years that residents have direct access to essential tax collector services within their own community.
The new Coral Gables branch, located at 224 Minorca Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33134, is the seventh office opened under Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez’s leadership, as part of his ongoing mission to expand accessibility and bring government services closer to the people of Miami-Dade County.
“It is an honor to be here today with all of you and celebrate this great moment for the residents of Coral Gables,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “For the first time in this City’s history, residents no longer have to leave Coral Gables to pay their property or business taxes or to renew their driver license. This is my commitment to you: to make services efficient and accessible for all Miami-Dade residents. I am especially thankful to Mayor Vince Lago and the City Commission for working so diligently in securing this beautiful space to serve the community.”
The Coral Gables Tax Collector’s Office features six service windows, a state-of-the-art queuing system designed to expedite maximum efficiency. The office has the capacity to process the full range of tax collector transactions, including driver license and ID card processing, vehicle registration renewals, license plate surrenders, specialty permits, as well as property and business tax payments.
Mayor Vince Lago praised the effort, saying, “This is an opportunity to serve at a greater level and truly effect change. I want to give credit to our City of Coral Gables employees, and to Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez, and his staff members. The work you’ve done is inspiring change, not only in Coral Gables but throughout Miami-Dade County. Keep up the good work, and God bless you.”
The inauguration was a well-attended celebration, bringing together the leadership of the City of Coral Gables, its residents, and the staff of the Tax Collector’s Office to mark this historic moment. The opening reaffirms Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez’s mission of putting people first across Miami-Dade County.
