Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez Welcomes Cuban Dissident José Daniel Ferrer and Family to the Miami-Dade Tax Collector Office

The Miami-Dade County Office of the Tax Collector had the honor of serving José Daniel Ferrer, a Cuban dissident and human rights advocate, and his family at the Tax Collector Office located at Midway Crossings Mall.
Ferrer and his family, exiled from Cuba’s brutal dictatorship, were welcomed by Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez, who personally assisted them as they began a new chapter in freedom — in a place where every person is treated with dignity and respect.
“As Miami Dade County Tax Collector, and as a Cuban who fled that same regime, this moment means a great deal to me,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “America gave us freedom and opportunity, and it is my responsibility to defend those ideals through the way we lead, serve, and treat others.”
Fernandez emphasized his office’s commitment to public service rooted in empathy and respect, ensuring that every resident who walks through the doors of the Tax Collector’s Office is treated with care and dignity.
