The Miami-Dade County Office of the Tax Collector held its first Town Hall Meeting at the Arcola Lakes Senior Center, beginning a new series of community conversations designed to bring government closer to the people it serves.

It was a fantastic evening filled with questions, feedback, and meaningful discussion. Residents had the opportunity to learn more about property tax payments, renewal services, appointment scheduling, and ways to save money through early payment discounts, including the 4% discount available for those who pay their property taxes in November.

“Government works best when it listens, learns, and connects directly with the people,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “Our goal is to make every service easier, more transparent, and more personal, one community at a time.”

Fernandez thanked all the residents who attended for their thoughtful questions and participation, as well as Commissioner Marleine Bastien and her team for joining the event and supporting the effort to make county services more accessible across District 2.

The Town Hall at Arcola Lakes was the first of several public meetings planned throughout November as the Tax Collector’s Office continues its commitment to direct, responsive, and community-focused public service. These meetings are helping residents better understand their tax bills, learn how to save through early payments, and access services conveniently within their own neighborhoods.
