Miami-Dade Tax Collector Meets with Japan’s Consul General to Strengthen International Collaboration

In a meeting that underscored the importance of global partnerships at the local level, Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez welcomed Japan’s Consul General in Miami, Junya Nakano, to discuss shared priorities in diplomacy, innovation, and cultural exchange.

The meeting served as an opportunity to reaffirm the long-standing relationship between Japan and the State of Florida, with particular focus on deepening cooperation in areas such as trade, education, and community engagement.

“Japan has been a valued partner to Florida for decades, and today’s meeting reflects a mutual commitment to continued collaboration,” said a representative from the Office of the Tax Collector. “By fostering international ties, we’re creating more opportunities for growth, learning, and understanding between our communities.”

Under the leadership of Dariel Fernandez, the Tax Collector’s Office has made it a priority to engage with global partners and consular leaders, positioning Miami-Dade as a welcoming and forward-thinking hub for innovation and cultural exchange.

The Office looks forward to working closely with the Japanese Consulate in future initiatives that will benefit residents, enhance connectivity, and promote cross-cultural understanding throughout Miami-Dade County.
