Statement From Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez On Arrest In Ongoing Investigation

Apr 03, 2026 8 mins read

Our enforcement team, working closely with our supervisors and in coordination with the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, identified illegal activity involving Waldersee Oge, who had been transferred from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office. He was arrested and is now in jail.

Following a months-long investigation conducted in coordination with the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office and federal partners, this individual was identified as being involved in alleged criminal conduct and was taken into custody on April 2, 2026. Effective immediately, Waldersee Oge is no longer employed with the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office.

The charges include offenses related to official misconduct, unlawful use of public systems, and the improper issuance of driver’s license documents. According to the arrest affidavit, the investigation determined that transactions were conducted without required in-person verification and involved misuse of official access and systems.

This matter was brought to light through our internal monitoring and compliance processes. Once concerns were identified, immediate action was taken, and the case was referred to law enforcement authorities. We have fully cooperated throughout the investigation and will continue to do so.

In addition, our enforcement team is working closely with the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, which is currently reviewing all transactions associated with this individual. Any necessary actions related to those transactions will be addressed through that process.

Let me be clear: any form of fraud, misconduct, or abuse of public trust will not be tolerated, not in this office and not anywhere in Miami-Dade County. Individuals who violate the law will be held accountable with the full strength of the law.

While this remains an active case, it is important to emphasize that the alleged actions involve one individual and do not reflect the professionalism, integrity, and dedication of the many employees who serve our community every day.

We will continue to cooperate fully with all appropriate authorities as this case and related reviews move forward. Our focus remains on transparency, accountability, and preserving the public’s trust.
